One of my favorite stories is that of Mr. Drew Dudley, a Torronto based leadership Guru
On his first last day of college a girl walked up to him and said. ‘I have never spoken to you in your last four years, but I heard you were leaving and I had to come and tell you, you had a profound influence in my life. When I came to join here, I was more or less sure that this was not for me. As my parents were sure to support me, I turned back to tell them that I wanted to go back. At this moment you walked into the room wearing the stupidest hat I have ever seen, carrying a bucket of lollipops, handing them out to the new joinees and soliciting their support for your charitable organization. As you reached me, you stopped, stared for a moment, stepped over to the guy next to me. You handed a lollipop to him and asked him to give the to the beautiful girl standing next to him. He sheepishly did so, being completely embarrassed and unable to do anything else. At that moment I knew that I could do this, that I belonged, I changed my decision’.
A few years later Mr. Drew went for the wedding of this lady. She was getting married to the guy who sheepishly handed over the lollipop.
While we always think of heroism or leadership as changing the world, of recognition or achievements that are larger than ourselves, the simple fact that it is as simple as making a difference in one life. Heroism is more in our grasp than we make ourselves believe it is. Today as this tabling year comes to a close we celebrate the heroism of each and every one of our tablers.
We celebrate the heroism of our fellowship convener Tr. Joseph Mohan who put in all his efforts to keep strong the bonds of theTable, who filled the year with fellowship activities and made sure that the theme I set for the year “We Are One” was fulfilled.
We celebrate the heroism of Tr. Sabari who touched many lives with his deep involvement in the projects. An involvement that gives us much hope for the future of TRT 66.
We celebrate the heroism of our Immediate Past Chairman Tr. Sundheep who through his vibrant efforts have brought in various recognitions to our table.
We celebrate the heroism of Tr. Swaroop whose active participation in every meeting inspired himself and others to take up responsibilities in our Table.
We celebrate the heroism of Tr. Ajith who brought the Table together on the by-laws and bringing extensions to the table to ensure the continuity of the movement.
We celebrate the heroism of Trs. Abhimanyu, Hemanth, Sreeji & Vinan for supporting the movement in every way they could.
We celebrate the heroism of our Honorary Tablers, Aiyappan & Sreekumar or Murali & Sethu as they are fondly called for their guidance and their efforts in increasing the bonding of Table.
We celebrate the heroism of Tr. Jithin & Tr. Sam who has decided to make a difference by joining this movement.
We celebrate the heroism of our Secretary Tr. Bejoy not only put in great efforts for the unity and the bonding of the table, but for continuing to do so by taking up the chairmanship for the coming year.
We celebrate the heroism of the Ladies Circle for being the pillars of strength for the movement and for inspiring us with a multitude of events.
Most importantly, We celebrate the heroism of our families for changing our lives through their support, encouragement and love.
I thank you all for your heroism and I wish the incoming team the very best.
